We had the first beginner mountainbike spin of the year yesterday around Kilmashogue and Three Rock mountain. Starting from outside the UCD Sports Centre at 10:30 were Dominic, Brian (making use of one of the club mountainbikes) and Phil with Rob Higgins leading the group. The group then met Loraine, Morgan and myself up at Kilmashogue car park where the off road biking began (apart from myself since I'm off the bike for a few weeks due to an injury - so I followed along on foot).
After having a look at megalithic monument just above the car park, we headed up the fireroad climb and up to the summit of Three Rock. We then went down the top section of the MAD club course which was the first taste of a technical trail involving rocks and roots which people new to mountainbiking found very difficult.
After this we followed a rocky transition over to a fireroad and a fast but smooth decent to the lower aerials. We then traversed around to the 'boneshaker' via a flowy section of singletrack and down to the main Three Rock car park. At this stage I left the group to make my way back to Kilmashogue car park on foot, while everyone headed back up to the top of Three Rock for one final decent.
