MTB Champs 2008

Last weekend saw the National XC and DH Champs being played out with some stunning results for UCD, which must be the top University club making a mark on Elite and Expert category racing in Ireland.



At Cahir, 021 Racing held the DH Champs and UCD's Rory Beirne placed 4th in the Senior event. He is currently holding 3rd place in the Senior DH National Points Series, threatening 1st and 2nd with two more rounds to complete.



Cait Elliot dominated the Elite Lady's XC Champs event held by Team WORC at Kilruddery this year. She came in 4 minutes clear to win the title. After coming back to racing after a 9 month break she is currently battling with Melanie Spath for the NPS title. With one final round to go she is 10 points adrift.



Oisin Boydell had one of his hardest races this year in the Expert XC Champs category. Coming in 3rd rider but finishing in 2nd place (beaten on the line by Polish National), he had to deal with cramp and a broken saddle in his final laps. He is still leading the Expert XC NPS and will have to defend a 14 point lead in the final round.
